Today I want to talk about the miracle of Greta Thunberg. You may already know about her, the young girl from Sweden who went on a school strike for action on climate change and quickly garnered a global following. But have you actually heard her speak? If not, you must. She is downright cinematic in her lack of pretense and blunt, smile-less gaze.

She is clear and articulate. She also is able to recognize that her Asperger’s gives her advantages by not needing social acceptance.
But why do we listen? Why does she get through to people when others can’t?
I don’t know the answer to this, but Greta has inspired me to be more openly serious. She has motivated me to stop worrying about being pleasant for other people’s comfort and let my rage show. She and Christine Blasey Ford are touchstones that help me to be more openly indignant. Next Friday I give my first public talk with this newer persona. Terrified.
